It's our brand-new, month-long festival, welcoming each and every member of the #HSUCommunity (that includes you!) to campus! It’s replacing what was previously Freshers’ Festival.
We’ve replaced Freshers’ Festival with Welcome Festival, making it bigger and better than ever! Visit our website for more information!
September is when the fun begins and we are with you every step of the way! Whether this is your first year or final year, you’re a member of the HSU Community and we’re here to make sure your university experience is the best it can be. There are lots of ways for you to get involved, to find out more about the events visit the events section of our website.
You’re automatically a member of the Students’ Union when you enrol unless you opt-out. If you’ve opted out by mistake you can opt back in by following these simple steps*.
*Please be aware that it can take a few days for this to take effect. If you’re struggling and need help contact email@example.com and we’ll do our best to help.
Not at all, Welcome Festival is for everyone, there is a mix of events from HudCrawl, a bar crawl around town to Campus Tea Party, the perfect excuse to have a slice of cake and a brew as a break from lectures.
Welcome Festival is for students at the University of Huddersfield, although some events like Roller Disco are open to those of you with children too.
This varies by event, some are completely free like Campus Tea Party or the Welcome Fair but for others, you may wish to bring spending money to buy drinks or snacks that aren’t included in the ticket price.
After the success of last year, HudLive is in the Town Centre again. It’s spread across five different venues, each with a different genre of music and fantastic line-up. Your ticket gets you access to all of them!
It is not permitted to bring your own alcohol to any of our events. Please check our event terms and conditions attached to your ticket for a full list of banned items.
Don’t worry, membership for all Sports Clubs, Societies and Academic Societies is open year-round. Make sure you don’t miss any trials or you might not make the team!
No one likes waiting around, we try to get you into the events as quickly as possible! To help speed things up you can collect your physical ticket for HudComedy as well as your wristbands for HudCrawl, Throwback Thursday and HudLive from the SU Front Desk throughout the day of the event. If you're the proud owner of a Welcome Festival Wristband you can even collect that from Friday 20 September - but you'll need to put it on at the time of collection and keep it on until the end of HudLive.
You’ll need to log in with your University log-in or register for a guest account on our website. You’ll find all tickets here.
To make sure that Welcome Festival is as accessible as possible we limit tickets to two per person per event.
A Welcome Festival Pass gets you entry to HudCrawl and HudLive and saves you a few quid in the process!
A Welcome Festival Extra Pass gets you entry to HudCrawl, Throwback Thursday and HudLive - saving you more money!
Not at all, we’ve made it super easy to by just the tickets you want, and providing they don’t sell out if you change your mind, you can buy tickets to extra events at a later date!
Some are free and some have a small charge, see our website for more information on each individual event.
Tickets £5 and under have a 50p booking fee and those over have a booking fee of £1.
Are you a first year?If so you’ll need to register as a guest.
Are you a returning student?
All tickets and wristbands are collected from the SU Front Desk on the day of the event, Floor 5, Student Central, unless you’re instructed otherwise. T-shirt collection for HudCrawl is from 7pm on Monday 23 September, Floor 4, Student Central. If you haven't got your wristband by then, don't worry - you can get it when you're collecting your t-shirt (be aware that the queue is always massive though!).
You’ll need to wear your wristband for the duration of the event if you have the Welcome Festival Pass this will need to remain on for the full headline week.
All students at the University of Huddersfield in September 2019 can attend the events.
You don’t have to but they might sell out otherwise! We don’t usually do cash tickets so you’ll need to get them online anyway!
We are going to be allocating seats for HudComedy – but this will be done when you come to redeem your ticket either at the SU reception on Monday or Tuesday – or you can redeem the tickets on the door. However, seating allocation will be done on a first-come-first-serve basis, so you’ll want to get your tickets redeemed nice and early to get the best place.
If you’re having trouble finding your tickets, make sure you check your spam/junk folder – if it’s in your junk folder links may not work!
You can also find your tickets by logging into our website (make sure you use the same email you used to buy your tickets). Once you’ve logged in click on your name -> Account/Profile -> My Tickets.
HudCrawl, HudLive, Laser Tag and Throwback Thursday are held in venues that may have flashing lights, if you’re unsure please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more info.
The best way to get home is with your mates as a group. If you don’t live right next to campus, then any taxi company that has signed up to our Safe Taxi Policy will be able to get you home safely and at an affordable price. Find out more at www.huddersfield.su/safetaxi
We want Welcome Festival to be accessible to everyone if you have any special requirements email email@example.com or visit the SU Front Desk and we’ll do our best to make sure you have a great time!
Due to licencing laws, you need to be over 18 and have a valid form of ID e.g. Driving License or Passport for events in bars and clubs. That includes HudCrawl, Throwback Thursday and HudLive.
