Volunteering Team

Volunteering is brilliant. Not only is it great fun but it is rewarding! Volunteering allows you to develop the skills and experience to gain graduate employment after your studies.

We're changing the way volunteering works this academic year.

Register your interest below and we'll send you an invite to our Welcome Event in October - or you can find us at Freshers' Fair for more info. We'll still have loads of opportunities available with our selected local partners, some of whom we've worked with for years, we'll also be able to help point you in the right direction for volunteering opportunities in your local area, whether that's Huddersfield or further afield.

Getting involved in volunteering whilst your studying will not only be fun and rewarding but it will serve you well in gaining those extra skills and experiences that will make you stand out from the crowd once you graduate.

There are many reasons why you should get involved in volunteering:

Volunteering can help you develop your skills in:
  • Leadership
  • Teamwork
  • Communication
  • Initiative
  • Motivation
  • Coping strategies
  • Adaptability
  • Organisational skills
Volunteering also provides valuable experiences:
  • Making a difference to the lives of others
  • Increasing your own confidence and self-esteem
  • Meeting new people and making new friends
  • Improve your health and wellbeing
  • Have fun!

Make sure you get the most out of your volunteering and sign up to one of the workshops we are running throughout the year with the Careers team. To support you in your career, we will be sharing tips and advice in how to effectively demonstrate your volunteering when it comes to writing a job application, completing a CV or sitting an interview.
