Strategy

Where did we begin?

Our new vision was shaped by research that demonstrated the importance of opportunities beyond the classroom – that by getting involved in activities rather than spending the whole of University life studying, helped with personal development and life skills, as well as creating a sense of belonging. Read a summary of our strategy.

Our vision is: By 2025 all Huddersfield students will agree that we help to develop the life skills they need to make and shape their future. They will understand and value being part of the HSU Community.

  1. Communication
  2. Resilience
  3. Globally & Socially Aware
  4. Collaboration
  5. Empathic
  6. Initiative & Entrepreneurship
  7. Critical & Creative Thinking

Our strapline is “making student life better”, which condenses our vision into one short sentence. We use this on a lot of our externally facing communications, as well as internal, to build our reputation as an organisation that students can rely on.

We will work together to create personal connections, inclusive communities and meaningful changes.

Our Values are:

We will be a financially sustainable organisation, looking for new ways to add value to the student experience and our services. We will be a diverse, inclusive and innovative organisation that encourages new ways of working and develops digital solutions to engaging with solutions.

The Annual Reports that show our progress are here:

Impact

We would like to see as many students as possible in our communities or creating change, but we recognise that some students will only ever engage with us by coming to a few events or voting in the elections, and that is fine if that is all they need.

We are Huddersfield Students’ Union.

It’s been a year of change and uncertainty, but it’s important we look back and celebrate all the things we’ve achieved, and we couldn’t do it without you.
