The annual Thank You Awards took place on Thursday 19th April held in the Oastler Buliding. This was an evening set out to celebrate the hardworking and supportive staff and course reps here at the University of Huddersfield! Making student life better is at the heart of everything we do, so the night was all about saying 'thank you' to our staff for doing just that.
Thank You Awards is joint initiative the Students’ Union and the University, it is a chance to recognise individuals who have had a positive impact on students’ lives while studying at University. This year students put forward over 650 nominations, recognising both staff and course reps, who all came together to celebrate the ongoing support and encouragement offered to our students.
Jonathan Stephen, Education Officer and President-Elect, said of the event: “This is the first time that I have been party to the delivery and shortlisting of these awards. As I read the nominations I felt humbled and proud.., reminded of the shamazing people who work here.”
The hosts for the evening, Abdul Jabbar and Kangwa Musonda rivalled Jake and Tom's performance at the SU Awards, for their off-the-cuff remarks and excellent presenting style as they introduced each of the ten awards. This year saw the introduction of four new awards, the Vice Chancellor's Prizes for Teaching Excellence for Student Outcomes and Student Satisfaction on both small and large courses. These awards were given using data from the National Student Survey.
The winners of the Thank You Awards 2018 were as follows:
Levi Omobolaji Epoyun-William
MEng/BEng (Hons) Mechanical Programme

On behalf of the Students’ Union we’d like to take a moment to say a huge thank you to all students who took the time to nominate in the Thank You Awards. It’s great to know that the hard work of staff and course reps doesn’t go unnoticed and it also helps us to make your student life even better in the future.
