Over the festive period, Huddersfield has so much on offer for you all to get involved in. With events, shows and volunteering taking place all over Kirklees, I am sure there is something for everyone so bring your whole family!

As soon as we get into December, Huddersfield is turning all things Christmas. First things first, our Christmas week begins on Monday the 3rd December and we’ve got events for everyone; including our Festive Photobooth, a Christmas Cinemas and a #GiveItAGo Pimp Your Hot Chocolate. Not ending on campus, there are lots of Christmas events across the whole of Huddersfield and beyond to get involved with. The Honley Christmas Market Fayre is on Saturday 1st December, where there will be rock climbing, cake and craft sales, performances, games and loads more! It only costs £1 to attend the fayre, and all proceeds go towards allowing disadvantaged young people take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Also on the 1st December is the Huddersfield Lion Santa Dash. Starting at The Slug and Lettuce at 9:30am the Lion Santa Dash is a fun run around Huddersfield Town Centre to raise money for charity.

All throughout December, the Lawrence Batley Theatre and Huddersfield Town Hall have so many shows, performances and concerts on it’ll be hard to choose which to go to! The standout show of the season will, of course, be the LBT’s fantastic pantomime – Aladdin, which is running from Friday 7th December all the way until Sunday 6th January! The other must-see performance will be the Kirklees Gospel Carol Concert at Huddersfield Town Hall. With the help of our very own Education Officer, Emmanuel Haruna, on Sunday 2nd December the Christian Societies and groups of Huddersfield will be uniting in the Town Hall for the very first time for a celebration of festivities and gospel carols.

No plans for Christmas day, or maybe you want to give something back? Every year, the Jubilee Centre hosts a team of around 40 volunteers who provide a Christmas meal to over 100 people who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day. Find out more on how you can take part or get involved here.

Need to burn some of that Christmas dinner off? The Boxing Day walk on Marsden Moor will be a great way to spend the day. Whether it is with family or friends or everyone you know, this scenic walk will get some fresh air into your lungs, and empty those bellies’ for some more Christmas treats!

I have just picked out a few of the things that are taking place this winter, check out what’s going on this festive period by visiting our Give It A Go map or consulting our list below.

… and don’t worry you won’t miss Santa, he’ll be at Cannon Hall Farm waiting for you to have lunch with him!

Happy holidays! 🎄
