Hi guys! I'm delighted to welcome you back from what was hopefully festive and restful holiday. I know no-one really wants to come back to school or work after all the food and drink, time spent with family and friends, and Christmas and New Year events... but return we must! 😁
I want to welcome you all to a new and exciting Term 2. If you'd like to see what I got up to in Term 1 as your Education Officer, check out our round-up blog for the term. We couldn't have done it without your help and support. You're all amazing!
This term I'll be doing a lot more work to improve the availability of Peer Mentoring across campus. I'll be looking at putting on a Peer Mentoring Conference to encourage and support Peer Mentoring initiatives across campus and to share best practice, and I'll also be working on the first ever University-wide Peer Mentoring Awards night!
This awards ceremony will be an evening to recognise and encourage the wonderful contributions to Peer Mentoring from across the University, and will celebrate the following categories:
If you're a student who is a Peer Mentor and feel you deserve one of these awards, or feel you know someone who does, please make sure you speak to the member of staff running the Peer Mentoring scheme you or the relevant person is enrolled under and put your/their name forward for that award.
Last but not least, if you have no Peer Mentoring scheme running in your school at the moment and want to get one started, please feel free to contact me!
Keep an eye on my Officer page on Facebook for updates and developments - or to get in touch.
I wish you all the best in 2019.
