As I am sure you’re all aware…it’s Christmas Soon!
The nights are getting darker, the weather has turned colder and winter has well and truly arrived. Make sure you’re prepared, stay warm and watch your step around campus when it gets icy.
Some of you may be experiencing a little bit of winter blues. If so please don’t hesitate to visit our Advice Centre on Floor 5, Student Central and have a chat with one of our advisers. They are here to help you with everything from money and housing worries to academic issues and mental wellbeing.
As Christmas approaches so does the season of giving. Don’t forget to use your NUS Extra card when buying your Christmas presents, it will get you some amazing discounts on over 200 big brands. It will also come in handy when planning your journey home for the holidays with loads of discounts on travel tickets. If you don’t have your NUS Extra card yet all you need to do is go online to: https://www.huddersfield.su/nus
As well as giving to our friends and family this Christmas, spare a thought for those less fortunate than ourselves. The Students’ Union is currently running their Winter Warm-Up campaign in association with The Welcome Centre. The Welcome Centre is a local charity who provide practical, short-term support for local people who are in crisis. They offer basic essentials such as food, toiletries, household items and bedding as well as information about where to get more help.
The Students’ Union has worked closely with The Welcome Centre for many years now and this year we are asking students to donate any tinned or dried food, unwanted household items and clean clothes to the stall outside the SU Shop and the Students’ Union front desk.
Thank you for your support and Happy Holidays!
P.S. Keep an eye out for the reindeers coming to campus next week!
