Yes, we are all tired of hearing about Brexit! As your Equalities Officer, it is important that I let you know some key dates and how it will affect us as students.
As you would all know, our New Prime Minister will probably be taking us out of the European Union at any cost (a no-deal Brexit) on the 31st of October. Over the next 90 days, I will be updating you all with important information on Brexit and events your Students’ Union is running.
In the event of either a deal or no-deal Brexit, the transition period is still set for December 2020 but it could be extended depending on the decision of the European Commission. However, for many of our EU students joining us this September, you would still be able to retain home fees until the year 2021 and the loan system could also be assessed until 2021. The fees will remain the same for all International students coming from outside the EU.
With all this in mind, Brexit is still quite uncertain but an open conversation to discuss.
