We can barely believe it – our famed Freshers’ Festival is under 4 WEEKS away, kicking off on Monday 18th September and going strong until Sunday 24th. You’ve all worked really hard to get to this point, whether you’re new a student just starting on your university journey, a returning student coming back to continue your degree or a post grad furthering your studies.

Freshers’ Festival is a week jam-packed full of events designed to ease you into University life, you’ll want to make the most of everything that is on offer so here is everything you need to know:

  1. If possible buy your tickets in advance, the big events always sell out in advance of Freshers’ week, you can get them through our website. We’re already out of Earlybird and All-Out Passes and we don’t want you to be disappointed!

  1. Get there early, whether it’s to Freshers’ Fair or Feel Good Friday you’ll want to make sure to get there nice and early to avoid the queues (as much as possible!) With certain events, such as Freshers’ Fair getting their early has other benefits too as there are goody bags for the first 5,000 through the door! This one also applies to your lectures – don’t want to be late to your first one!

  2. Check out the full programme of events, we have included something for everyone with a variety of free and paid events, some day-time and some evening, we’ve even got some that are new this year! Whether you’re a new or returning student we promise you’ll find something you love!

  3. Use Freshers’ as a chance to get to know your SU! We’re more than just Freshers’ Fair and are here for you throughout your entire university journey with opportunities, events and advice. We offer many opportunities for you to gain experience and skills; Volunteering, Course Reps, Sports Clubs and Societies. We run events throughout the year, the big ones are; Freshers’, Re-Freshers’, Varsity and Give It a Go Weeks. We’re also here to support you with free, impartial advice through HudLets, our very own letting agents and our Advice Centre, who can advise you on all sorts of student issues. Come to our events such as #TBT Campus Tea Party or Feelgood Friday to have a chat with us!

  1. Grab your NUS Extra Card! We know students are always after a good deal, one of the first things you should do when you arrive is grab your NUS Extra Card, £12 for 12 months or £32 for 3 years! With over 200 discounts including; 10% off at Apple, 25% off at Odeon and 50% off Spotify Premium, can you afford not having an NUS Extra Card? Keep an eye out for us during the Freshers' Festival!

  2. Get out and make some lifelong friends! Meeting new people and making new friends can be scary, but don’t forget most of you will be in the same boat. Start small with your new flatmates and course mates then go from there. Our programme of events is designed to help you to meet new people, from the big events like HudCrawl and HudLive to the more chilled out ones like HudMovies and the Retro Tea Party.
