The Life Membership scheme is open to any student of the University of Huddersfield, and is for membership to the University of Huddersfield Students’ Union. It is not membership to the National Union of Students.

To apply, please complete the application form and return to The Students’ Union. Once your membership has been agreed by the Executive Committee we will send your Life Membership Card to your home address.

* The Huddersfield Student Newspaper is a free publication. To get copies posted direct to your home address there is a charge of £5 per year to cover packaging and postage.

Terms and Conditions

1. Life membership of the University of Huddersfield Students’ Union (UHSU) is offered in accordance with the provisions of Sections 5.6 and 5.9 of the Constitution.

2. Life membership is available to:

a) former students of the University of Huddersfield Students’ Union subject to any conditions approved by the Executive Committee,
b) former elected officers and representatives of the Students’ Union subject to any conditions approved by the Executive Committee,
c) former employees of the Students’ Union subject to any conditions approved by the Executive Committee.

3. Life members shall be entitled to the following services upon payment of the appropriate fee.

a) an identity card that shall at all times remain the property of the University of Huddersfield Students’ Union,
b) use of all services and facilities provided and administered by the Students’ Union,
c) attend functions and events organised by the University of Huddersfield Students’ Union subject to any admission charge that may be levied,
d) be a member (but not hold office) of any club or society, subject to any separate membership fee or charges levied by the club or society,
e) have two guests who are not members of the University of Huddersfield Students’ Union admitted on Students’ Union premises, subject to any fees or admission charges that may be levied.

4. All Life Members are required to abide by the Students’ Union Code of Conduct set out in s.6.1.6.

Life Members whose conduct or behaviour is considered to be in breach of the code shall be subject to disciplinary action which may include ejection from the premises and withdrawal of Life Membership facilities.
