UCO’s Campus Committee spread a bit of Christmas Cheer in the Student Lounge

Yesterday (Tuesday 13th December 2010) the UCO Campus Committee held its first Christmas Cheer Celebrations; offering mince pies (and other nibbles) and a glass of Shloer to all staff and students at Oldham.
Students came along to revel in the relaxed atmosphere in the Student Lounge listening to some festive music, while enjoying a mince pie with their friends. The Campus Committee even put on a fun tombola event for the students to take part in. The prizes on offer included a £15 Waterstone’s gift card, a 16gb memory pen and £10 LCC Printing Voucher (both of which was kindly donated by Wayne Winterbottom, LCC Manager at UCO) as well as a mixture of fun and novelty prizes.

All in all everyone got into the Christmas spirit and hopefully had an enjoyable time thanks to UCO’s Campus Committee.

Christmas Refreshments

Barnsley and Oldham join Forces

University Campus Barnsley Campus Committee visits UCO Campus Committee.
However unlikely it may sound, UCB Campus Committee faced their fears and left Yorkshire and headed over to Oldham to meet up with their fellow elected members of the Oldham Campus Committee.
This was the first such meeting of its kind between the campuses and a great opportunity to meet each other and have a tour around the Oldham Campus. It was fantastic to form allegiances with the Campuses and to share ideas and suggestions to build a better Campus Committee.

The meeting proved enlightening, especially as Barnsley Campus Committee could see the SU in operation at Oldham and how this differed from their Campus. They were surprised by the smallness of the SU Pod in the Library, but saw the benefit of it being close to the student population although not private! They loved the bright colours and open aspect of the Student Lounge and saw the potential with the Multi-Media Building and its break out sections.
Sometimes it’s worth seeing things with fresh eyes . . . as they say!

Now it’s Oldham’s turn to go to Barnsley and see how their Campus differs from Oldham.
