► UCB - Your Union

You may not know this but as a student you are automatically members of The University of Huddersfield Students’ Union, regardless of which campus you are studying on. Your membership was completely free and started automatically when you enrolled. You are also a member of the National Union of Students (NUS) which you can find out more about in this section of the website.

Although part of the University, the Students’ Union is independent, student led and student focused.

Executive Team

The Students’ Union is run by a group of students, elected by you, that are supported by professional staff. This group is made up of 5 members and is called the Executive Committee (or Exec for short). There are also 10 elected part time officers whose role is to represent the many diverse groups within the student community. Each of them has a focus area for representing students in. Campus Committee

In Barnsley we have a Students’ Union Campus Committee (site committee) which meets up every month to discuss issues relating to YOU as a student. The students that make up this committee are elected from Barnsley and by Barnsley students!

Advice

One of the most important roles of The Students’ Union is that we provide help and support for you, its members, on a wide range issues that you may encounter to ensure you get the best education possible. We have a specialist Advice Centre to help this happen offering free confidential, impartial advice on any problem or query, no matter how big or small.

iZone

The time you spend at University should not always be about academic issues but about your development as an individual, meeting new people with different experiences, and exploring interests that you may have. This is where the Students’ Union can give you all the extra curricular activities you may need to have fun, gain life experiences and boost your employability.
