MISSION STATEMENT

Chinese Society expects Chinese students and scholars in the University of Huddersfield, and all other students who are interested in China and Chinese culture to experience and enjoy a richer, fuller, and more successful life in the UK and beyond.

Chinese Society particularly devotes itself in promoting education and culture exchange between China and the UK through mutual dialogue and collaborative initiatives on a wide variety of issues.

It serves as a platform to bridge the gaps between the East and the Western world, and enhance understanding and awareness among the young generation of the two countries.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the Chinese Society shall be:

Increasing awareness of the presence of Chinese within British Society.

Promotion of the Chinese culture within Britain and the integration of these two cultures.

Increasing the social interactions of Chinese and non-Chinese alike.

Removing unfair stereotypes and any barriers the Chinese themselves create.

To work towards increasing equality of opportunities.

To form links between groups of similar objectives - to communicate with them and exchange information.

MEMBERSHIP
-
Membership of the Chinese Society is open to all the members of the Students’ Union.
-
Membership is subject to the payment of membership fees decided at the start of each academic year by the student activity group committee
-
If any member of the student activity group breaks any regulation or this constitution their membership may be revoked.
-
That if any member of the student activity group is subject to a disciplinary by the Students’ Union which affects their rights as a Union member their membership may go under review and consequentially revoked.

Non-students may join the student activity group but are not eligible for any democratic rights with membership.
-
Non-students still have to pay a membership fee, the amount decided by the student activity group committee.
