Foundation is a charity working with vulnerable and excluded people. They would together with lots of organisations, including the Probation Service, across the region. This project, in conjunction with the Probation Service, is trying to reduce the number of people in prison on short sentences. They do this by mentoring offenders to support them to not return to prison when breaching community orders or the terms of their probation.
Volunteer mentors are matched with a suitable individual in Huddersfield or Dewsbury, and undertake one-to-one sessions with them helping them completing forms, attending appointments, and working with other agencies to support them. Full support is given to mentors by the Volunteer Co-ordinator.
