International Students Week 17 – 23 October 2009

This week sees a series of events geared up for all you international and EU students to get to know Huddersfield a bit better, and more importantly get to know some of your fellow students a bit better! There’s something for everyone!

Saturday 17

10 – late Town First Treasure Hunt
Register at the Union for this Treasure Hunt around Huddersfield. Get to know the town a bit better in teams of 2-5, following the clues and working out the answers. There are some great prizes on offer, and a prize-giving party afterwards at Voda Bar on John William Street. FREE

Sunday 18

9 – 4 Holme Valley Walk
Meet outside the Union at 9am to get the bus up to Holme.
9km walk down to Holmfirth where the walk will end at a café.
Bring £2.40 bus fare each way and wear sensible shoes! Sign up in the iZone before Friday!

Monday 19

10 – 12 Sports & Socs drop-in in the iZone
Find out about all the things you can get involved with at the Union!

2 – 4 International Student Support Drop-In (iZone)
Advisors on hand to speak to about any problems you might have at Uni, be it immigration queries or welfare concerns.

4 – 7 Bowling
Try your hand at 10-pin bowling! Get a team together and come along!
£6.50 per person

Tuesday 20

10 – 12 Sports & Socs drop-in at the iZone

2 – 4 Careers Drop-in session (iZone)
Come and discuss any queries you might have about your future career, or if you need some help choosing postgrad courses or updating your CV.

4 – 6 Family tea-time picnic
Bring your family and your own packed tea up to the Coffee Bean in the Union. Get to know other student families! FREE

Thursday 22

10 – 12 Sports & Socs drop-in in the iZone

2 – 4 Tour of the Galpharm Stadium
Get the behind-the scenes tour of Huddersfield’s famous stadium, home to Huddersfield Town Football Club and the Huddersfield Giants. See the dressing rooms, and get pitch-side!
Meet at 2pm outside the Union to walk down for the tour.
£3.50 each

7 – 11 Live music in The Graduate
with Trip to Dover, New Vinyl and The Fancy Tours.
Advance tickets available for all international students for £1 from the iZone

Friday 23

10 – 12 Sports & Socs drop-in in the iZone

Come up to the iZone on the first floor of the Union for more information about International Students’ Week, or to buy tickets for all events.
