It’s that time of year again when Cancer Research UK is gearing up for its Run 10k series. This summer they had their biggest ever Race for Life year with an amazing 738,105 ladies taking part across the country, so are hoping that the Run 10k series will follow suit and they will also have a record turnout.
Cancer Research UK are looking for help at the Wentworth Castle event this year. The event will take place on Sunday 4th October at the beautiful venue near the University’s Barnsley campus, just 2 miles off of junction 37 off the M1. The event will start at 11.00am.
Volunteers provide a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of Cancer Research UK’s events. Last year, the first Wentworth Castle event had a fantastic atmosphere and they raised an incredible £31,795 for Cancer Research UK. This year, they hope to raise £78,000.
The volunteer roles vary from marshalling the course, to helping hand out goody bags, etc. There will be a briefing on the morning prior to the event, so volunteers would need to arrive for 8.45am and will be finished for approximately 1.30pm.
To save time and paperwork on event day, the Charity encourage volunteers to register online prior to the event. Therefore, if you wish to volunteer for the event and you have access to the internet, please visit www.run10k.org and click on ‘Support Run10k’.
