Huddersfield Students’ Union is pleased to announce that with the hard work of staff and students alike that they have been awarded the silver standard at the Green Impact Students Union Award.

More than 250 officers and staff from 70 Students’ Unions attended the NUS Services Awards Dinner in Manchester on April 20 to celebrate our collective achievements through Green Impact Students’ Unions.

It is the second year in a row Huddersfield Students’ Union have been awarded this and is testament to the hard work of all staff in ensuring their working environment is as green as possible and energy costs are kept down.

Buildings and Health and Safety Co-ordinator, Andy Wright of the Students’ Union has driven the project forward. He said, “I am proud at the achievement made by Huddersfield Students’ Union and that whilst the standards needed were becoming increasingly challenging we were able to increase our scores. We are looking forward to the challenge of the forthcoming year in which the Students’ Union and its members are aiming for that elusive gold standard.”

The Students’ Union has also been awarded a silver Best Bar None Award by the NUS.

The Best Bar None Awards aim to reward, promote and recognise the huge efforts that Students’ Union bar outlets put in to corporate social responsibility and in particular the wider effects of selling alcohol.

Accredited outlets were recognised at Gold, Silver and Bronze levels.
  


Huddersfield Students' Union are pleased to announce they have received the bronze award for SUEI (Students' Union Evaluation Initiative).

SUEI works in partnership with the National Union of Students and is supported by the Department of Business Innovation and Skills. It is a unique quality assessment model that assists in improving the services and activities delivered to members of Students' Unions by indicating areas for continuous improvement. SUEI accreditation is the mark of a good Students’ Union.

After 2 years of hard work from Executive Officers and staff at Huddersfield Students' Union, which involved proving we make student life better, we are very pleased with the final result from the assessment panel.

Matt Christie, Huddersfield Students' Union President says; “SUEI has been a 2 year process of evaluation and identifying where we can improve. It is a credit to all the staff and officers at Huddersfield Students' Union to receive the bronze award for SUEI. It’s evidence that the whole organisation is striving to continuously improve and make student life better.”

Matt Mills, Huddersfield Students' Union Chief Executive commented “The whole team, students, staff and elected officers have worked hard to improve the student experience. It has been a comprehensive process that has looked at the positive impact for students, our governance, finance and HR processes. It demonstrates that Huddersfield Students; Union is well run and focused on our members needs. I am very proud of the team and we continue to strive to improve year on year.”

Assessors reviewed a whole range of documentary evidence, and conducted over 7 hours of interviews with over 70 UHSU stakeholders in mid-May. The final decision was made today (Friday 23rd July) by the SUEI advisory panel and a very excited Huddersfield Students' Union team found out their result on the end of a very anxious telephone line.
