Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the UK. Of those who are tested, 1 in 10 people are diagnosed as positive for Chlamydia and with as many as 70% of women and 50% of men with Chlamydia not showing symptoms it can be hard to detect without a test.
The test for Chlamydia can be done simply by providing a urine sample. There are over 100 screening sites across Calderdale and Kirklees. The results take a few days to come through and people can say whether they want to receive their results by post, text or telephone. If found positive, the infection can be treated with a short course of antibiotics. Without treatment Chlamydia can sometimes lead to pelvic inflammatory disease and can leave both men and women infertile.

The Advice Centre is part of the Hate Incident Reporting Scheme. As a Centre we can take reports of racist, homophobic or disability related incidents from students who do not wish to report them directly to the Police.
This means that if you feel that you or someone else has been a victim of a hate crime then a report can be taken at one of the centres. Any information recorded can be held just by the centre, or should you wish, passed onto relevant organisations such as the Police. It's up to you to decide what happens to the information and you can ask for any information given to be passed to the relevant departments anonymously. To report a hate incident or for further information, you can contact either the Students' Union Advice Centre or University Student Services in the Student Centre.
