Access to Learning Fund

If you do run into financial problems whilst at University then you may be eligible for an Access to Learning Fund. This is money from the government which is administered by the University to help out students in financial difficulty. To check out the eligibility criteria and for more information on how the fund works you can visit the University Student Finance Office website by clicking here.

Application forms can be downloaded from their website or collected from the Student Finance Office desk in the Student Centre, Level 4 CSB or from the Students' Union Advice and Information Centre.

NHS Charges

Students are not automatically eligible for help with health costs, for example prescriptions or dental treatment. There are certain situations when you may be entitled to help but for most students they will need to apply to see if they are eligible under the NHS Low Income Scheme. To apply you can pick up an application form (HC1) and the guidance notes from the Students' Union Advice and Information Centre. The application will be subject to an income assessment.

For further information on the scheme contact the Customer Enquiry Line on 0845 850 1166 or visit the Department of Health’s website by clicking
