The Students' Union runs a full service Advice Centre, located on Floor 5 of Student Central (open Monday - Friday 09:00 to 17:00).  We provide support on a wide range of issues, all given by professionals in a confidential, professional environment.  The service is completely free for students, and is entirely independent from the University - which means we have only one objective: to help you.  Check out our webpages with some important information below.

Academic Issues

Sometimes, despite your best intentions, your studies don't always go to plan. If you are having any problems we are happy to listen, and can offer information and advice on the University’s policies and procedures and if requested attend meetings with you. Check out the links here to find more help. If you cannot find what you are looking for or need further information please contact us by email at advice-centre@hud.ac.uk or by visiting the centre.

Housing

The Students' Union Advice Centre can help with all your housing issues. Whether you choose to live in student halls of residence or in private rented accommodation we can advise on a variety of issues from choosing the right accommodation to suit your needs to helping with problems that arise whilst you are living there.

Student Finance

For many students, their financial situation is worse now than it has ever been. Every year we deal with a large number of financial enquiries and so if you have any questions about loans, fees and grants or general queries about your finances please get in touch with us. This section provides details of how we can help and provides links to resources where you can find out more. We have a phone (free to use) available in the Advice Centre which you can use to make calls to utility companies, student finance and others (please note; this is not available for personal calls).

Well-being

There are times in anyone's life when they feel depressed, alone or simply feel the need to talk: there are plenty of places on campus and in Huddersfield where you can go or phone to talk over your worries or feelings, so never hesitate to ask.

International

These pages are designed for International Students who are studying at the University of Huddersfield, and for those students who are studying courses from Huddersfield at a University in their home country. Did you know that both groups are automatically members of the Students' Union?
